Several new features for the 2021 DTM regulations

To ensure its future, the DTM has already undergone a major transformation of its concept, abandoning the Class One technical regulations, shared with Super GT, to concentrate on Grand Touring on the basis of GT3.

In addition to this profound change in philosophy, the promoter of the German series will introduce several new technical and sporting features.

First of all, ABS and traction control can be used from 2021. A request from teams and manufacturers, and which could largely open up the horizons of drivers wishing to enter the championship, with less difficulty of piloting.

Reducing costs will be, as in most series, at the heart of ITR's concerns, so that as many manufacturers as possible show up on the starting grid.

On a sporting level, the DTM will abandon its traditional standing starts for flying procedures, on the style IndyCar. Which is not fundamentally new for the championship, since restarts following a safety car for example, already take place on this model.

The races will take place as always without a change of driver, over 55 minutes plus one lap and the pit stop time will also be maintained.

ITR specifies that the interest of many manufacturers is already present. We can bet that GT3 regulars should respond favorably to the creation of the grid next year.
