Prémat: “An incredible race”

" I am very disappointed. It seems that I am a regular candidate for the positions from the fifth to the seventh row of the starting grid”. Last Saturday, after qualifying, Alexandre Prémat seemed disappointed. Eighth at Brands Hatch, the Frenchman did not start his weekend in the best way.

But seventh in the second free practice session and sixth in the Warmp-up, the Phoenix Racing resident proved he could be fast on the Oschersleben track. It is therefore with increased motivation that the 28-year-old driver approaches this eighth round of the DTM. From 12th place, Alexandre Prémat managed to move up to sixth, after a successful start to the race to say the least.

“It was an incredible race, the tricolor will admit. I started from 12th place. Very quickly I found myself ninth, before overtaking Martin Tomczyk shortly after. The strategy was magnificent. Obviously, it?s always nice to score points. I said after Brands-Hatch that this would be my goal for the races to come. We pocket three additional units. The team put in a fantastic performance after disappointing qualifying. I am delighted for Rocky (his teammate Rockenfeller finished 5th, editor's note), the team and myself. »

In the provisional general classification, the 2008 LMS champion is eighth, four points behind his teammate. If he manages to maintain this position, the 1-2005 A2006 GP champion could then obtain his best result in four DTM seasons. But three races still remain to be contested.

Next meeting for the sedans of the German touring championship on October 17 at Hockenheim, for what will be the last event contested across the Rhine this season. In order to offer more spectacle to the many fans who are expected to make the trip, the organizers have decided to modify the German route somewhat. (see here). Subsequently, Bruno Spengler, Paul di Resta and other Mattias Ekström will travel to Italy to Adria on October 31, before the Chinese grand final in Shanghai on November 28.
