First success for Quintarelli-Matsuda since 2018 at Suzuka

Two years of waiting is a long time in a world that demands speed above all. The crew composed of the Japanese Tsugio Matsuda and the Italian Ronnie Quintarelli had no longer known the joys of champagne since spring 2018 in Super GT.

The official Nissan GT-R Nismo returned to success at Suzuka (Japan) this Sunday, August 23. However, the game was not easy, with no less than three neutralizations and numerous exchanges of places at the head of the race.

The Franco-Argentinian Sacha Fenestraz (Toyota), qualified in a modest 12th place because of the on-board ballast reserved for the championship leader (60 kg) made an effective comeback to third position. Enough to celebrate the 100th start of his teammate Yuhi Sekiguchi in the discipline.

The GR Supra crew remains at the top of the general classification with an eight-point lead over another Toyota, that of Nick Cassidy and Ryo Hirakawa (7th). The next event is scheduled for Motegi on September 12 and 13.
