R-Motorsport will enter Aston Martins in DTM

From 2019, Audi and BMW will no longer be alone in DTM. As expected, the two manufacturers will scrap on the track with Aston Martin Vantage designed by a joint venture HWA AG-AF Racing and operated by R-Motorsport, the racing operations structure of AF Racing, which shines in the Blancpain GT Series.

However, we cannot speak of a third manufacturer, because Aston Martin is in no way involved in this project... which therefore has nothing official. The British brand only grants a license to the HWA-AF association, giving it only authorization to use the silhouette of the Vantage. This in no way calls into question the seriousness of the project, especially since HWA – which has long been the armed wing of Mercedes in the discipline and which prepares the arrival of the firm to the star in Formula E – enjoys immeasurable experience in the discipline.

“The heart of the DTM beats in Affalterbach, comments Ulrich Fritz, Managing Director of HWA AG. It is here that the new era of DTM has found a boost and it is the home of the greatest team in the history of the discipline, I named HWA AG. After many years of collaboration with Mercedes-AMG, the entire team is delighted to write a new chapter in DTM with R-Motorsport and Aston Martin. With this partnership, we have created an excellent foundation platform to build on our past successes. It will be a big challenge for all of us, but we will do our best to bring a competitive package to the start of the DTM season.", promises Ulrich Fritz.

“We are delighted to benefit from the expertise of HWA AG, one of the greatest teams in the history of DTM, with whom we are embarking on this project. The goal of this partnership in DTM is to launch ourselves into this investment while benefiting from adequate resources while maintaining costs”, adds Dr Florian Kamelger, co-owner of AF Racing AG and Team Principal of R-Motorsport.
