Rast wins at the Nürburgring, Paffett new leader

René Rast (Audi) retained his pole advantage in Race 1 of the DTM at the Nürburgring. The reigning champion was able to quickly create a lead in the first laps by taking advantage of the duel between Gary Paffett (Mercedes) and Bruno Spengler (BMW). The Canadian finally managed to take the advantage of the Briton on the 14th of the 40 laps of the race and failed to be less than a second behind the winner, while the 2005 champion completed the podium.

This 3rd place is nevertheless enough for Gary Paffett to take back control of the championship with 5 races to go before the end of the season. The Briton took advantage of the poor performance of his direct rival for the title Paul di Resta (Mercedes) who was in 5th position when he spun in turn 4 while attempting to overtake Philipp Eng (BMW).

The 2015 champion of the Porsche Supercup a été sanctionné d’un drive-through, mais son adversaire écossais n’a pu remonter les positions après avoir encore perdu du temps lors de son arrêt. L’ancien pilote Force India a échoué en dernière place.

The BMWs of Timo Glock and Marco Wittmann completed the Top 5 ahead of Mike Rockenfeller (Audi) and Pascal Wehrlein (Mercedes).

Loïc duval (Audi) recovered well after missed qualifying as the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2013 gained ten places to cross the finish line in 8th position. Augusto Farfus (BMW) and Nico Müller (Audi) completed the Top 10.

The drivers will return to the track this Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to compete in the third practice session. Qualifying for Race 2 will follow at 11:15 a.m. while the start of the race will be at 13:30 p.m.
