The Audi RS 5 were unbeatable this Sunday at Brands Hatch in England. After placing eight cars in the first eight places on the grid in qualifying, the German brand scored a quadruple in the race, led by the logical winner René Rast.
Starting from pole, the 2017 champion had nevertheless seen Loïc duval take the advantage from the first meters, before the Frenchman faded in quick succession against the German then against Nico Müller, well back in third position in the first two laps.
From then on, the Rast – Müller tandem set the pace, without the latter ever attacking the former. Having entered the pits at the same time, the two residents of the brand with the rings will come out in the same order, with Müller however losing a few precious seconds when changing tires.

Visibly faster than Rast, the Swiss nevertheless settled for second place at the finish, behind Rast who took the opportunity to increase his lead in the championship. Robin Frijns and Loïc Duval, author of a perfect defense on Philipp Eng (BMW), benefiting from a fresher train after his first extended stint, complete the Audi triumph.
Followed by Mike Rockenfeller (Audi), Sheldon van der Linde (BMW), Dani Juncadella and Jake Dennis (Aston Martin) and Marco Wittmann (BMW), only 10th. The most serious rival of René Rast and Nico Müller in the championship had anticipated his first stop, before attempting an offbeat strategy with a second passage to the pits, taking advantage of a slow zone deployed on the track.
Non-paying choice since yesterday's winner will not be able to recover in the final minutes and is now 59 points behind Rast in the championship, Müller remaining 37 points behind the leader.
The next round of the DTM will take place on August 24 and 25 at the Lausitzring.
