Robin Frijns wins at the Nürburgring

When Frijns doesn't start on pole, he scores. On Saturday, the Dutchman started from second position. He overtook pole sitter René Rast at the start and was never seen again.

Rast even had to defend against Nico Müller. The Swiss, by dint of trying, passed through Phillip Eng. It was only the beginning of problems for the championship leader, who spun at the first restart after a safety car.

The second came following the release of Loïc duval. The Frenchman hit the tire wall and ended up in the gravel.

The German finished second, without being able to worry his rival, who left him behind in the championship. On the restart, Marco Wittmann managed to pass Rast to gain second place. Behind, Loïc Duval found himself once again involved in an accident with Fabio Scherer, the driver of Team WRT.

The Frenchman retired and let the safety car appear a third and final time. The opportunity for René Rast to give Wittmann his due.

In the end, the Audis and BMWs shared the places in the Top 10 equally.

Despite his misfortune, Müller remains at the top of the championship with only 13 points ahead of Frijns and 36 over René Rast.
