Robin Frijns wins and frustrates Duval at Assen

“Finally, finally! » As he crossed the line, Robin Frijns released all the frustration he had accumulated since the start of the season. Serial poleman, leading a bunch of laps, he had so far failed to make it happen. He chose the best place, at home in the Netherlands, to reverse the trend and take his first victory of the season with Audi.

Unfortunately for the French, it is to the detriment of Loïc duval. Imperial in practice and pole-sitter, Chartrais led the race until eight minutes from the end.

As usual in DTM, we had to wait until the pit stop to get a real idea of the situation. The start of the race above all allowed the four big names of the weekend to find themselves in front.

Loïc Duval stopped on the sixteenth lap, one earlier than René Rast and Nico Müller and two earlier than Robin Frijns.

Nico Müller also managed to pass his championship rival Rene Rast in the pitlane.

At the exit of the pits, Frijns, Müller and Rast gradually returned, until finding themselves in contact with Loïc Duval on the 26th lap, in particular thanks to DRS and Push to pass, which the Frenchman could not use.

Four laps later, Robin Frijns took the lead thanks to a wheel lock from Duval. Behind, the Frenchman, finally able to use the aids, tried everything in vain. He finished second in the wheels of Frijns and a hair ahead of Nico Müller.

The Swiss made an excellent effort in the championship race, as he took the lead from René Rast. The German collapsed at the end of the race and was passed by Mike Rockenfeller.

What about BMWs? They have been invisible. Jonathan Aberdein, first representative of the brand with the propeller, finished 6th at 26 seconds.

Really comfortable at Assen, Duval will have the opportunity to take his revenge on Sunday.

The classification of the race.
