Scheider winner, Spengler leader

Paul di Resta (Mercedes), after three consecutive victories, had an “off day”. The Scot, from the first lap of the race, saw his hopes of a podium disappear. So fifth, the leader of DTM spins following contact with the rough Mike Rockenfeller (Audi). It was almost at the same time that Alexandre Prémat (Audi) was the victim of a accident very spectacular. The Frenchman, after contact with another driver, lost control of his car, which went wide, hit the rail violently and rolled over. Stunned, Alex Prémat however seems to be doing well.

At the front, Timo Scheider (Audi) delays his pit stops to the extreme. While some have made their two stops, the German has still not passed through his box. He will stop on the 31st and 33rd laps, emerging in control of the race, ahead of Gary Paffett (Mercedes) and Bruno Spengler (Mercedes), Paul di Resta's two challengers for the title.

The latter also skilfully moves up the peloton to score a few points. Starting last following his contact with Rockenfeller, the Briton managed to place himself in the top 8. But Adria did not smile at di Resta and, with seven laps to go, he was touched by Miguel Molina (Audi) and left. head to tail, again.

With a damaged car, Paul di Resta can no longer defend his chances. Still in search of the eighth point less than three minutes from the finish of the race, he had to give in to Mattias Ekström (Audi), who was faster and who excluded him from the points. In the lead, Timo Scheider flies away and takes his first victory of the season. Gary Paffet, second, but especially Bruno Spengler, third, performed well.

Bruno Spengler, who lost the lead in the general classification during the last round of the championship, regains his possession. The Alsatian at heart now has a three-point lead over Paul di Resta, with only one race remaining, in Shanghai. It is therefore in China that the title will be fought out between Spengler, di Resta but also Paffett, back to nine points at the head of the general classification.
