Scott McLaughlin first winner of Darwin's Triple Crown

Winner yesterday in race 1, Scott McLaughlin (DJR Team Penske – Ford Mustang) did not fail to dominate the entire day on Sunday in Darwin in Supercars. Author of pole at the end of the shoot-out, the reigning champion of the Australian series offered himself a 12th victory this season.

A success marked by clear domination from the start after containing his teammate Fabian Coulthard. Holding a lead of almost 8″ over David Reynolds (Erebus Motorsports – Holden Commodore), who passed second to Coulthard at the start of the race, McLaughlin was not worried, leaving Reynolds to face Coulthard and Cameron Waters (Tickford Racing – Ford ).

Reynolds will retain second place thanks to different fuel strategies, and is ahead of Fabian Coulthard for the podium.

But it is McLaughlin's victory that deserves to be noted, since it allows the New Zealander to be the first driver to win the Triple Crown at stake in Darwin, namely the two races of the weekend and the Sunday Pole Shoot-Out.

A Triple Crown established in 2006 and which was once awarded to the winner of the three races at the meeting, the format having changed in recent seasons.
