Faultless course. This is what the start of the season looks like for Shane van Gisbergen (Triple Eight). Already winner of the first five races of the season, the Kiwi once again imposed his law this Saturday in Launceston in Tasmania.
Starting from pole, the No. 97 was immediately grilled by Cameron Waters (Tickford Racing) and his Triple Eight teammate Jamie Whincup. Nothing to worry about.

Without being impatient, Shane van Gisbergen quickly got back into the rhythm of the race by getting rid of Jamie Whincup. Returning to contact with Cameron Waters, the New Zealander regained his initial position with a nice maneuver at the start of the 9th of the 44 laps of the race.
Behind, SVG increased its pace and was not even worried when making its only pit stop. His rivals released, the Kiwi went to cross the finish line first to achieve his 6th victory of the year in as many races. Teammate Jamie Whincup and Anton Di Pasquale (Dick Johnson Racing) completed the podium at Symmons Plains.

With this 6th success, Shane van Gisbergen becomes the 3rd driver in Supercars history to win the first 6 races of a season. Only Allan Moffat in 1977 and Mark Skaife in 1994 had achieved this feat.
In the championship, the Triple Eight driver flies away. With 705 points, he is more than ever in the running to win the second championship title of his career. He is ahead of Jamie Whincup by 153 units and Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United) by 183.
