Spengler gives Mercedes DTM pole

Two Mercedes AMG C-Class against two Audi A4s DTM, or Bruno Spengler and Ralf Schumacher against Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekström. These were the four qualified in the final four to compete for pole position for the opening DTM event which will be run tomorrow at Hockenheim.

In the end, it was the Canadian Bruno Spengler who was the fastest at the wheel of his Mercedes in the exercise of the lap launched alone on the track, signing a time of 1'34"270. He is ahead of the Swede Mattias Ekström and the Germans Ralf Schumacher and Timo Scheider.

“I am very happy to take pole position, especially as due to a problem at the front of the car, we were unable to complete a lap during practice this morning, said Bruno Spengler. The team did a very good job. My Mercedes improved over Q2, Q3 and Q4. Tomorrow the race will be long and it will be important to see how the new Hankook tires behave. It is not easy for a new manufacturer to arrive in a championship. Yesterday, both in the dry and in the wet, the tires behaved very well.”
