A calendar further reworked in Supercars

The once again revised calendar of supercars Australian will only displaya single endurance event, with the legendary meeting of Bathurst 1000, since the latest version of the 2020 program, modified in response to the consequences of the coronavirus, no longer includes a round on The Bend route.

Another major modification, the Mount Panorama Circuit track will ultimately only be visited once in 2020, after the imagined addition of a second round on the sidelines of the 12 Hours counting for the Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The 2020 final should also take place at night in Sydney on December 12 and 13, instead of the Sandown round, brought forward to its usual date in September (September 19 and 20), de facto removing the end of the season in start of 2021.

“When the draft calendar was published four weeks ago, our main objective was to ensure we resume racing as soon as possible, comments Sean Seamer, championship boss.

The schedule announced in May was based on the best information we had at the time. Looking ahead to 2021, teams and broadcast partners have agreed that it is in all parties' best interests commercially and competitively to end this year's campaign in December and begin the new season in 2021 .”

The management of the series specifies, however, that the circuits which will not have been visited in the new 2020 calendar should be part of the plans for the 2021 campaign. A chance to return to the track of The Bend and in New Zealand.
