Electric car breaks Shanghai circuit record

The NIO EP9 hit hard by being the fastest among the production cars on the Shanghai International Circuit where the Chinese Grand Prix is contested. At the wheel, Oliver Turvey clocked a time of 2'01''11. The Briton was selected to achieve this performance since he defends the interests of the Nextev team in Formula e which is a partner of the Chinese manufacturer.

The NIO EP9 has already achieved previous records by being the fastest electric car on the Nürburgring Norschleife (7'15''12) and at Paul-Ricard (1'52''78). She was also the best performer among the production cars in Austin (2'11''30). It must be said that it is greatly helped by its power of 1MW equivalent to 1360hp.

“It was phenomenal to drive the NIO EP9 on the Shanghai circuit, commented Oliver Turvey. The track has several fast turns which allow you to feel the level of downforce and the straight line allows you to take advantage of the incredible power of 1MW. It was really nice to get this record and I'm proud to have achieved it for NIO. »

Oliver Turvey will return to Formula E duty on the weekend of April 1 with the Mexico ePrix.
