V8 – Craig Lowndes wins the Bathurst 1000

Craig Lowndes and Steve Richards won the Bathurst 1000 contested on the Monut Panorama, the driver of the Red Bull Racing Australia achieving its sixth success in this event (the fourth for his teammate). This is his first victory since 2010 when he won with Mark Skaife and the first for the team since 2012.

The crew of the No. 888 Holden took advantage of the drive-through inflicted on Triple Eight's second car when Jamie Whincup overtook the safety car at the end of the race, condemning the n°1 to 18th place while the six-time champion seemed able to win given the pace shown.

While Chaz Mostert (Pepsi Max Crew) is expected to be out for the rest of the season following his qualifying accident, his teammate Mark Winterbottom remains firmly in his place as leader of the Championship by taking second place with Steve Owen, While Garth Tander and Warren Luff (Holden Racing Team) complete the podium in front Fabian Coulthard and Luke Youlden (Freightliner Racing).

The French achieved good results in Bathurst. Alexandre Prémat (GRM) took fifth place with Scott McLaughlin, While Sébastien Bourdais finished ninth with Lee Holdsworth (Preston Hire Racing).
