V8 – van Gisbergen gives Holden a 500th victory

Flagship recruit of Red Bull Racing Australia during the off-season, New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen did not wait long before signing his first victory counting towards the V8 Supercars championship. The winner of the 12 Bathurst 2016 Hours with McLaren and Tekno Autosports won the first race of the Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint, 120 km long, this Saturday in front of his teammate Jamie Whincup.

The two men got the better of pole sitter Mark Winterbottom (The Bottle-O Racing Team – Ford Falcon), who lost a lot of time during his pit stop. The podium is completed by Will Davison, who gives the Holden brand a hat-trick, ahead of Rck Kelly's Nissan Altima.

The second race of the weekend will take place tomorrow.
