Shane van Gisbergen (Holden) performed well by winning the first race of the weekend on the new Bend circuit. Not content with having reduced his gap on Championship leader Scott McLaughlin (Ford) 89th in the event from 41 to 6 points, he will remain as the first winner in Supercars to have won on this new track.
The resident of the Red Bull Holden Racing Team took the lead of the race by overtaking his teammate Jamie Whincup just before the interruption which occurred on the 7th lap following the stop on track of Garth Tander (Holden), which allowed him to make his stop at the pits while the seven-time champion had to wait behind the first Commodore.
Coming out in eighth position, Jamie Whincup was able to move up to the foot of the podium completed by the Nissan Altima of Rick Kelly and Michael Caruso. Mark Winterbottom (Ford) completed the Top 5.
