If he wanted to win Race 1 to be calmer for the rest of the weekend, Alessandro Giusti ultimately did not need this victory. Author of pole position this Friday, the member of the AUTOhebdo Rookie Academy mastered his subject during the first race at Paul-Ricard this Saturday.
Surprised at the start, Alessandro Giusti lost his 1st position but remained in contact with the leading group in 3e position. Meanwhile, his runner-up Hugh Barter was experiencing a nightmare and fell to the back of the peloton after an eventful start. A few moments later, the Australian had to retire, leaving the way open to Sandro.
A time 3e, the Ile-de-France resident gained a position thanks to the passage through the pit lane of Dario Cabanelas, thus returning to 2e position behind leader Souta Arao. Although in contact with the Japanese throughout, Alessandro Giusti did not tempt the devil preferring to ensure his 2e place rather than risk everything. With the abandonment of Hugh Barter, his 2e position on the line behind the winner Souta Arao in addition to the best lap in the race, the member of the Rookie Academy AUTOhebdo was able to exult from Race 1 securing the title of F4 France champion for his 2e year in the championship.
With 19 points scored in Race 1, Alessandro Giusti increased his lead over Hugh Barter to 53 points with only 42 left in the game. He can therefore no longer be caught by the Australian who will have to used in the next 2 races to keep his 2nd place ahead of Souta Arao, back to 10 lengths thanks to his 2nd victory of the season.
