Baguette hits double

During a race that he mastered from start to finish, Bertrand Baguette won for the first time this season, Saturday at Le Mans. The Belgian thus starts from third position thanks to the inverted grid and gets an excellent start. He also took advantage of the argument between Pasquale di Sabatino (RC Motorsport) and Marco Barba (International Draco Racing) at the start to get the better of his two adversaries.

Behind, the safety car appears to clear the cars of Adrian Zaugg (Interwetten.com Racing) and Anton Nebylitskiy (KMP Group / SG Formula) which collided in the Dunlop chicane. At the restart, Baguette retained his position and widened the gap lap after lap while Pasquale diSabatino, second, contained Marco Barba, Jaime Alguersuari (Carlin Motorsport) and Oliver Turvey (Carlin Motorsport) as best he could.

The Tech 1 Racing drivers are a little further behind, Edoardo Mortara ahead of Charles Pic, while fighting for 8th place, Miguel Molina (Ultimate Motorsport) and Jon Lancaster are doing each other no favors. Charles Pic managed to overtake his teammate on the 14th lap as did Lancaster a lap later. The Frenchman, however, was unable to gain new places and finally finished sixth.

In the lead, everything is going well for Bertrand Baguette. A solid leader, the Belgian has almost 5 seconds ahead of Pasquale diSabatino with a quarter of an hour to go. The latter, however, must be increasingly wary of Marco Barba. He found the opening on the 18th lap, cutting the Dunlop chicane but received a ten-second penalty at the end of the race. He finally took 5th place at the checkered flag.

Finally, just behind, Oliver Turvey puts pressure on Jaime Alguersuari. The latter breaks down and makes a mistake which allows Turvey to pass. The positions no longer change until the finish. Bertrand Baguette wins for the first time this season ahead of Pasquale diSabatino and Oliver Turvey. The Belgian at the same time takes first place in the ranking. “ I wanted to win, finally! I never thought about the situation at the Championship, but it is indeed a very good operation. However, it is very tight and we see that everything can move very quickly this year », declared Baguette after the race.
