Bourdais, victory and smile

Sébastien Bourdais hadn't worn such a smile at the end of a race in a long time. After the super final, the epilogue to the Estoril weekend in Superleague Formula, the Manceau fully savored the newfound pleasure of victory. On the podium, far from the paddocks Formula 1, the Sarthois did not shy away from his pleasure of getting back on the top step. “ I feel great, said Bourdais after his third race of the day. It's good to be back at the top of the podium! We improved a lot today, we really did a good job to improve. It feels really good to race again and, above all, to win. »

The Frenchman sought his success and owes it only to himself. Seventh on the starting grid for the second race of the day, Sébastien Bourdais (Sevilla FC) quickly overtook Nelson Panciatici (Olympique Lyonnais) before moving to the front, in third position.

At the head of the race, Alvaro Parente (FC Porto) took the lead thanks to his pit stop at the expense of Enrique Bernoldi (Flamengo), inheriting second place ahead of Sébastien Bourdais. But the Brazilian did not hold out for long against the enthusiasm of Manceau, who snatched second place from him. The Frenchman even got back into Parente's shoes but, at home, the Portuguese also had a good day and ended up winning in this second race.

Qualified for the super final, Sébastien Bourdais starts from fourth place. Starting in front, Antonio Pizzonia (Corinthians) and Yelmer Buurman (Anderlecht) lost the benefit of their good place on the grid from the first seconds. The command of the race goes to Adrian Valles (Liverpool). But the Spanish driver, chased by the Frenchman, cannot contain his rival, who quickly takes the lead of the peloton before escaping. After five rounds, the Frenchman won and won the 100 euros prize money for the winner of the super final.

If he cannot have ambitions in the general classification, Sevilla FC having only joined the field after the withdrawal of Al Aïn, Sébastien Bourdais can taste the pleasure of victory again. He will have to wait four weeks to try to repeat such a performance, for the fifth and penultimate round of the Superleague Formula championship, which will be contested at Monza on October 3 and 4.
