Funyo V of V Challenge

Here, we naturally expect Nicolas Cannard, entered with the HMC Lohéac team, who won everything on this same circuit last year; he is also second in the championship behind Serge Heriau. Cannard qualified in the lead without any problem, for Serge Heriau it was a little more complicated and he set the 5th time. Everything will be decided in the race, especially since for this meeting in Dijon there are not 3, but 4 races of 20 minutes which are on the program.

Race 1
The rain is there and, even if it is not very heavy, it falls continuously. In these conditions, a mistake can quickly happen and all the drivers will be attentive during this start with 25 cars on the grid. The leader sets off without any worries, but the big surprise comes from the No. 12 which jumps from 6th place to find itself just behind the leader. Not only did Yann Burguet beat 4 cars, but he mainly drove an older generation Funyo 4RC. He will also, to everyone's astonishment, follow the pace of Nicolas Cannard for many laps, while behind him Jean Quelet (n°11) and Jean-Pascal Burguet (n°16 at MSI) are left behind. A little further on, the Hériau family (n°37 François and n°36 Serge) are in deep discussion with Eric Grare (3rd in the championship) and his n°2 Funyo. After 5 laps, Nicolas Cannard managed to gain some distance, but still did not really break away from Yann Burguet. It must be said that this Funyo 4RC remains comfortable in this rain which somewhat erases the difference in performance between the two generations; You still need to have serious driving skills to resist the armada of theoretically more efficient pursuers. Halfway through the race, Jean-Pascal Burguet made a mistake and lost his third place. The ranking is therefore as follows: Cannard (n°1) / Yann Burguet (n°12) / Jean Quelet (n°11). The latter improved his times in order to get back on the little Funyo n°12 but, while it was raining harder and harder, Yann Burguet regained a lead of 1,7s. Cannard is still in the lead with 4 seconds. For third place, it's a great duel between the No. 11 of Quelet and the No. 37 of François Hériau, separated by only a few tenths. In the last loops, Hériau let go, leaving the third step of the podium to Jean Quelet who had a faultless race. For this first round, it was Nicolas Cannard who won ahead of Yann Burguet, the no. 12 logically winning in the F4 category ahead of the no. 40 of Jean-Christophe Lavillette (16th overall).

Race 2
After the first round, the leading drivers are ready to fight again. Great flight from Serge Hériau who comes close to the Funyo 4 of Yann Burguet who managed to keep his good 2nd place. Nicolas Cannard remains leader at the end of the straight. On a dry track, Yann Burguet's Funyo 4RC has more difficulty defending its chances against the latest generation cars. Serge Hériau, Jean Quelet and Jean-Pascal Burguet did not take long to pass it. In the lead, Cannard gained a few seconds to consolidate his leadership position. A little further on, Eric Grare, who was counting on regaining points during this second round, had bad luck and returned home due to a puncture. We are in the 4th lap and, following an error, Cannard's n°1 finds itself 3rd. This small incident causes the top 5 cars to regroup. Cars 36, 16, 1, 11 and 12 are grouped together almost in the same second! Jean Quelet (n°11) made a mistake, and Jean-Pascal Burguet (n°16) took the lead ahead of Serge Hériau and Nicolas Cannard. The n°1 constantly increases the pace and passes the n°36 with the firm intention of reaching the leader by the end of the round. Yann Burguet's little Funyo is still fighting in 4th position, she even manages to overtake Serge Hériau's 36th, a magnificent race! The latter logically ends up regaining the advantage, imitated shortly after by Jacques Fontbonne (n°5). At the front, after having achieved superb times, Cannard was forced to slow down, perhaps by having hit his tires too much. Extraordinary finish in the last lap between the 36 d?Hériau and the 5 de Fontbonne which are almost side by side. The latter will not pass?
Final ranking: Jean-Pascal Burguet (n°16) / Nicolas Cannard (n°1) / Serge Hériau (n°36).
Among the Funyo 4, Yann Burguet (n°12) is 1st (5th overall); n°39 (17th overall); n°40 (18th overall).

Race 3
Sweetness and sunshine for this Sunday morning! The Funyos take to the track for their third race of the weekend. On the grid, we find Nicolas Cannard on the front row ahead of an excellent Yann Burguet at the wheel of his Funyo 4RC, who has continued to mingle at the head of the race since the start of this Dijon meeting. Let's go for the colorful peloton of small Funyos, and we witness some nice tussles at the rear at the first braking. The No. 1 of Cannard has secured its start and just behind the 16 of Jean-Pascal Burguet is in the middle of a fight with the 36 of Serge Hériau. We closely observe the No. 12, but Yann Burguet has difficulty resisting his attackers, he loses several places in the first laps. Cannard is joined by Jean-Pascal Burguet who managed to break away from Serge Hériau. In the 3rd lap, Burguet attacks Cannard to gain 1st place and he passes! On this same lap, the big fight for 3rd place ended in the tank at the end of the straight while the 11, the 36 and the 37 presented themselves side by side under braking. An impressive exit from the track, but only the yellow flags are waved. However, the race is over for Jean Quelet, Serge Hériau and François Hériau. We therefore find in 3rd place the 14 of Cédric Gardin, in a group with the 5 of Fontbonne and the 2 of Grare. In this same lap, we also lost the little Funyo 4RC n°12 of Yann Burguet who made a mistake. The commissioners have put away the flags and a frantic pace is established at the front. The 16 of JP Burguet is ahead of the 1 of Cannard who is unable to catch up. Fontbonne on the 5 is also on the attack, he is 3rd but has Eric Grare in his wake. The two men overtake each other several times. However, the 14 and the 38 are not far behind them for this great fight for 3rd place. We are halfway through the race, the 73 receives a penalty. In the lead, Jean-Pascal Burguet consolidates his lead with more than 2s over Cannard. Behind, at 11 seconds, we find a very grouped peloton: between 3rd place and 12th place there are only a handful of seconds. Fontbonne on the 5 seems to be letting go since he was overtaken by 2 competitors. It is now Eric Grare who is 3rd with a small lead. Fontbonne reacts and goes on the attack again for the last 5 minutes, he returns to 4th place. In the lead, Cannard increased the pace, but it was too late to be able to attack the No. 16 of JP Burguet. At the crossing of the line, we therefore have the following ranking: 16 / 1 / 2 / 5 / 38. Another very lively round in Funyo to start this Sunday!

Race 4
This is the last race of this weekend which exceptionally included four rounds instead of the usual three. After a very lively third race on Sunday morning, during which we witnessed a spectacular exit from the track at the end of the straight, all the cars are however at the start, including the protagonists of the collision: Jean Quelet, Serge and François Hériau. The Funyo 4 n°12 which had retired in the morning is also on the grid. Everyone is off to a good start, especially Cannard who retains the leadership. First pass in front of the pits and the #1 is ahead of the #16 by 1 second. Fontbonne's 5 is 3rd, but Serge and François Hériau pass him in the second loop. Yann Burguet's little Funyo did not stay at the front, she quickly took over in 11th place. Family explanation between 37 and 36, and it is the son François who passes the father Serge. Big mano a mano in the lead because Jean-Pascal Burguet came back on Nicolas Cannard. Approaching the 5th lap he passes it to the aspiration in the straight line. Behind them, the No. 37 broke away to secure its 3rd place, and the No. 36 takes the peloton a little further. Eric Grare on No. 2 attacks Serge Heriau and moves into 4th place. Event in the lead because the No. 16 spins, leaving Cannard alone in front. He leaves in 10th place in the middle of the Funyo pack. The 37 is now 2nd, François Hériau is extremely motivated, he is the fastest on the track and is 4 seconds behind the n°1. Eric Grare is 3rd, 6s behind second. The battle at the front is, moreover, taking place among the laggards. Cannard reacts and increases the pace to no longer be under pressure from the No. 37. Nice duel between the 38 and the 5 for the gain of 4th place. The 5 wins during magnificent braking at the end of the straight line. Behind, barely 5 seconds between 5th and 9th. Fontbonne is truly unleashed and he comes back on Grare to aim for 3rd place on the podium; 5 minutes of racing left. Impressive Jean-Pascal Burguet; left 10th after his spin, he is now 5th. There are 2 minutes left, this time the 16 attacks the 5 from Fontbonne! We are in the last lap, JP Burguet has Eric Grare in his sights for 3rd place. Crossing the line, it was Grare who retained his 3rd place by 0.138s. It really didn't take another round! The winning trifecta is therefore 1 / 37 / 2. In Funyo 4, Yann Burguet finishes in 10th place, second is Patrick Jamault at YO Concept.

Next round on the Motorland Aragon Circuit, August 30, 31 and September 1.
