After qualifying in the dry, the FRECA 2022 drivers had to deal with rain this Saturday afternoon at Monza. Difficult conditions which livened up this first race of the weekend with a slightly agitated peloton.
Starting from pole position, Dino Beganovic (Prema) was quick to get into action. After a good reaction when the lights went out, the Swede retained his advantage during the first braking where many drivers made contact, quickly causing the intervention of the safety car.
It was a choppy race which began with contact even before the restart between Dino Beganovic and his first pursuer Gabriele Mini (ART Grand Prix). Leader of the peloton, the Swede braked at the Parabolic and the Italian was unable to avoid the slight collision which cost him his wing and the rest of his race. A situation which allowed the Prema pilot to take off.
The two other interventions of the safety car ultimately did not change anything. In total control, Dino Beganovic will never be caught again, not even by Michael Belov (MP Motorsport) who had the opportunity to try his luck on the last lap. Lorenzo Fluxa (R-ace GP) completed the podium just after his teammate Hadrien David, best Frenchman in Race 1. Two other Tricolores finished in the Top 10, Sami Meguetounif (MP Motorsport), 9e, and Maceo Capietto (Monolite), 10e.
