DiSabatino premiere

During a race full of twists and turns, Pasquale DiSabatino scored his first victory in Formula Renault 3.5 Series. The safety car entered the Hungarian track twice following several collisions.

Winner of three races since the start of the year in the FR 3.5 Series, Marcos Martinez started for the first time this season in pole position ahead of his compatriot Miguel Molina (Ultimate Motorsport). Martinez and Molina remain in this order at the start. The correct operation is carried out by Bertrand Baguette (International Draco Racing). The Belgian slips into third place, ahead of Charles Pic (Tech 1 Racing), James Walker (P1 Motorsport), Brendon Hartley (Tech 1 Racing) and Jaime Alguersuari (Carlin Motorsport).

The first lap was marked by a series of collisions which forced the Safety Car to exit for the first time. Adrian Zaugg (Interwetten.com Racing), Adrian Valles (Epsilon Euskadi), Filip Salaquarda (Prema Powerteam), Greg Mansell (Ultimate Motorsport) and Oliver Turvey (Carlin Motorsport) remain on the floor while Edoardo Mortara (KMP Group / SG Formula) is forced to go through the pits to change his front wing.

As the green flag is waved, Marcos Martinez stops his car at the side of the track, following a gearbox sensor problem, and leaves his opponents to do battle. Bertrand Baguette makes a perfect restart and overtakes Miguel Molina at the end of the pit straight. The Belgian is therefore in the lead ahead of Miguel Molina, Charles Pic, James Walker and Brendon Hartley. The latter is threatened by Jaime Alguersuari. The Spaniard tries to overtake him, but the two cars touch. Jaime Alguersuari thus took 5th position while Brendon Hartley fell to last place.

New drama with the simultaneous exits of James Walker, at the entrance to the pit lane, and Edoardo Mortara. The safety car enters the track again in front of Bertrand Baguette, Miguel Molina, Charles Pic and Jaime Alguersuari. The positions remain the same at the restart, but the leaders still have to go back to the pits to change tires, which is not the case for everyone. Stopping before the Safety Car period, Pasquale DiSabatino, Marco Barba, Julian Leal, Chris Van der Drift (Epsilon Euskadi) and Michael Herck (Interwetten.com Racing) made a perfect hold-up. Bertrand Baguette is now 6th, ahead of Fairuz Fauzy and Charles Pic, while Miguel Molina retires with a faulty accelerator sensor.

Pasquale DiSabatino wins for the first time in Formula Renault 3.5 Series. Despite his retirement, Marcos Martinez retains the lead in the championship, tied on points with Bertrand Baguette. But with three victories on the clock, it is the Spaniard who will make the ING Renault exhibition F1 Team at the next meeting, at Silverstone.
