Eurocup FR 2.0 – Renault consolidates its formula

The end of the involvement of Renault in the Formula 3.5 led to a redistribution of cards in the Losange sports program. The French brand, which must come back in F1 via the acquisition of Lotus F1 Team, reoriented its forces around the Eurocup FR 2.0 and the Renault Sport Trophy, where the RS 01s are aligned.

The championship of car now knows its provisional 2016 calendar, structured around seven meetings, each integrating one to three rounds. The peak of the season will undoubtedly be the Monaco meeting (May 29), previously reserved for the 3.5. Paul Ricard will host the championship at the end of August.

Stability should be essential on a technical level, even if the introduction of 17-inch Michelin tires is still under study. 2018, however, should mark the arrival of a new engine and a new generation of Formula Renault 2.0.

The list of preselected teams will be communicated on December 15, each entity being able to field two to four cars.

April 16-17, 2016: Motorland Aragón? 3 races
May 29, 2016: Monaco? 1 race
July 2-3, 2016: Autodromo di Monza? 3 races
