What a way to pick ourselves up! At his lowest point on Saturday evening after his retirement from the Sprint Race due to a mechanical breakdown, Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) found some color this Sunday by winning the Main Race. Left since 1e line, the Habs dominated the event from start to finish and in an authoritarian manner.

Author of a good start when the lights went out, Victor Martins was quick to stand out. Faster than pole sitter Roman Stanek (Trident), the ART Grand Prix driver immediately got the upper hand on the Czech by overtaking him even before the first turn.

Although he had to manage a first restart after only 7 laps, the Ile-de-France resident did not flinch when it came time to go around again. Without too much difficulty, Victor Martins managed to hold Roman Stanek and Isack Hadjar (Hitech GP) behind him, 4e on the grid and quickly passed Alexander Smolyar (MP Motorsport) for the win of 3e instead.

The rest of the race was just a long, quiet river for the protégé ofAlpine. Firmly installed in the lead and protected from any attack from Roman Stanek, Victor Martins crossed the finish line with more than 2 seconds ahead of the Czech who resisted the pressure put by Isack Hadjar until the last round. Alexander Smolyar and Oliver Bearman (Prema) completed the Top 5

Leclerc in pain, Martins takes the lead

On the mat Saturday afternoon, Victor Martins saw Arthur Leclerc (Prema) slip under his nose in the championship. Fallout 4e 7 points behind the Monegasque, the ART Grand Prix driver regained his rights thanks to his 2e victory of the season but also the setbacks of his opposite number.

Despite its 5e position on the starting grid, Arthur Leclerc was quickly undermined. Engulfed in the peloton as the first braking approach approaches, the little brother of Charles Leclerc lost 4 positions and found himself in 9e position at the end of 1e round. Although he tried as best he could to come back, the Prema driver was never able to catch up. He even finished further back since contact with David Vidales (Campos) caused him to fall to 11e place with an additional penalty of 5 seconds after being found guilty. On arrival, it’s at number 14e place that he finished this Main Race.

A perfect operation for Victor Martins who won the 25 points for victory as well as the fastest lap in the race. A deal that allows him to leave Barcelona in the shoes of the leader less than 24 hours after leaving it.
