Juan Manuel Correa returns to competition with ART Grand Prix

The perseverance of John Manuel Correa will be rewarded in 2021 with a return to the wheel, more than a year and a half after the terrible accident suffered at Spa in the FIA F2, and where Anthoine Hubert unfortunately lost his life.

Seriously injured in his legs, the American-Ecuadorian pilot had undergone several surgical operations and a long convalescence, with the hope of one day returning to a car, which will be the case in FIA F3 this year with ART Grand Prix.

“I am extremely happy to be back after what I experienced, comments Correa. I am very grateful to ART Grand Prix and it means a lot to me that they believe in me and my comeback.

F3 is a year of transition. My dream is always to reach F1 and this is the first step in my return. My goals are a little ahead of schedule because I still have a lot to do and I haven't driven a car in a year and a half. There is a big learning curve ahead. I'm going into this season with an open mind, I won't put pressure on myself, I'll do my best, I'll do what I love and that's already a victory. »

“Juan Manuel is an example of bravery and tenacity and ART Grand Prix is proud to give him the opportunity to return to racing, declares Sébastien Philippe, boss of the French structure.

Juan Manual is extremely strong mentally and always fights to be as fit as possible. Behind the wheel, his talent is immense, as evidenced by his accomplishments in karting then his first years in motorsport.

We are committed to supporting Juan Manuel in resuming his career and helping him climb the ladder once again. »

Correa will team up with Frederik Vesti and Alex Smolyar for the 2021 FIA F3 campaign.
