There will be a spectacle in the streets of Macau at the end of 2023. For the 70th edition of the Macau Grand Prix, two historic competitions will return from November 16 to 19. The World Cup Formula 3 will be organized again on the Asian track, a first since 2019. In addition to F3, the FIA GT will also be there next November. This decision results from a new three-year agreement signed between the FIA and the organizers of the Macau Grand Prix.

Two F3 races in Macau

For its return to Macau, Formula 3 will be at the center of the race weekend with a specific format. On Thursday, November 16, drivers will have two 40-minute free practice sessions, followed by two qualifying sessions. Two races will be organized around the 6,2 kilometer circuit: a first lasting 10 laps, then a second lasting 15 laps. Formula 3 has not visited Macau since 2019, due to the Covid-19 health crisis having heavily affected the Asia Pacific region.

“The history of Macau and Formula 3 is one of the most famous in motorsport and the event has long been the highlight of the junior single-seater calendar, rejoiced Nikolas Tombazis, category director car to the FIA. Over the decades, many great names in motor racing have been tested at the Macau Grand Prix, as an outstanding performance at the Guia Circuit is a sure sign of talent and commitment. “It’s great news that the story continues with the current generation of Formula 3 cars, which made a successful debut on the streets of Macau in 2019.”
