FR 2.0 – Hugo de Sadeleer signs his first victory at Spa

In qualifying, Lando Norris achieved a lap in 2'18''299 allowing him to beat his rivals Dorian Boccolacci and Max Defourny. Another contender, Harrison Scott (AVF by Adrián Vallés) only ranked seventh behind Will Palmer (R-ace GP), Sacha Fenestraz (Tech 1 Racing) and Hugo de Sadeleer.

At the start, Max Defourny took the lead, but his stolen start cost him a drive through. Behind, a contact between Lando Norris and Will Palmer caused the latter to retire.

When Max Defourny made his penalty, Hugo de Sadeleer took the lead ahead of Dorian Boccolacci, surprised by Lando Norris. Sacha Fenestraz led a lively peloton where Harrison Scott and Robert Shwartzman (Josef Kaufmann Racing) lost big.

A solid leader, Hugo de Sadeleer sealed his first victory. Dorian Boccolacci held off Lando Norris to give the Tech 1 Racing team a double. Fourth, Sacha Fenestraz was ahead of James Allen (JD Motorsport), Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing) and Ferdinand Habsburg (Fortec Motorsports), authors of good comebacks. Eighth, wild card Nikita Troitskiy (Fortec Motorsports) preceded Jehan Daruvala (Josef Kaufmann Racing), Julien Falchero (R-ace GP) and Max Defourny, who ultimately saved a point.

Hugo de Sadeleer:
" It's awesome. I am very happy to have been able to win. It wasn't my best qualifying this morning, but I had a good start at the start. I then knew how to take advantage of our low-downforce configuration to overtake my competitors and I knew that Max had stolen the start. I didn't try to catch him, especially as the tire degradation was rapid in the first laps. Hopefully we can do the same tomorrow! »

Dorian Boccolacci: “It was a good race. We were able to see the excellent work accomplished by Tech 1 Racing on this circuit. After a good qualification, we achieved the double and I am delighted because I gained the upper hand over Max and Harrison, my direct rivals in the general classification. I hope to be able to do it again tomorrow while exchanging places with Hugo's! »

Lando Norris: “This weekend is perhaps the hardest of our season. We had a lot of trouble yesterday in collective testing. We knew we could do better, but getting pole position was a bit surprising! We knew the race would be difficult, but I feared a puncture after contact on the first lap. When Max took his penalty, I tried not to make a mistake, but Dorian still passed. I tried to recover my position several times, but there was a yellow flag when the best opportunity presented itself. »

Provisional general classification 1. Lando Norris (Josef Kaufmann Racing) 217 2. Max Defourny (R-ace GP) 163,5 3. Dorian Boccolacci (Tech 1 Racing) 151 4. Harrison Scott (AVF by Adrián Vallés) 148 5. Sacha Fenestraz (Tech 1 Racing) 74,5
