FR 2.0 – Rowland like a chef at Spa-Francorchamps

It didn't take long for Oliver Rowland to make a name for himself in Eurocup Formula Race 1 Renault 2.0 at Spa-Francorchamps. After starting from fifth position on the grid, the Briton fought his way through the peloton to take the lead of the race on the third lap by overtaking pole sitter Jake Dennis (Fortec Motorsports). “Starting fifth, I didn’t expect to win as the field is so high”, commented the winner. “The different duels helped me stay away from potential problems. We showed good pace in practice. We had to manage to bring everything together during this race! My disappointment with qualifying is forgotten with this first success of the year. »

Jake Dennis managed to hold on to his second place until halfway through the race, but the Briton then fell down the rankings, losing Pierre Gasly (Tech 1 Racing) then Oscar Tunjo (Josef Kaufmann Racing). The pole-sitter of the event will ultimately have to settle for sixth place after also being overtaken by Andréa Pizzitola (ART Junior Team) and Antonio Fuoco (Prema Powerteam). Luca Ghiotto (Prema Powerteam) could have hoped for a good result but the Italian retired at the very end of the race. Matthieu Vaxivière (Tech 1 Racing) fails at the top ten gates but remains at the top of the Championship with nine points ahead of the winner of the day.
