FR 3.5 – Nico Müller did not tremble

Starting from pole position, Nico Müller knew he had a unique chance to win in Monaco. At the start, you shouldn't tremble. And that?s exactly what the Swiss from International Draco Racing did, who got off to a flying start. Behind, the same cannot be said of Jazeman Jafaar. Starting second, the Carlin team driver missed his start and was overtaken by Marco Sorensen. Although solid throughout his race, the Dane from Lotus never managed to worry the future winner, while the Malaysian retained the last step of the podium until the checkered flag.

On the tortuous and tricky circuit of the principality, Kevin Magnussen stood out again. The leader of the Drivers classification achieved a sublime overtaking on Carlos Sainz Jr. By braking by surprise inside the Rascasse, the Dane came alongside the Spaniard, who had no other choice but to let his rival pass. Behind, Antonio Félix da Costa will also take the opportunity to pass the son of the double world champion WRC. The two men will finish 4, 5 and 6th. Among the French, Arthur Pic saved the furniture. Starting 12th, Charles' brother grabbed the point for tenth place, but lost his third position in the Drivers' standings. Less luck for the other French pilot, Norman Nato. In 12th position with 18 minutes to go, the Frenchman had little to hope for in this race, other than reaching the finish. A mechanical problem will decide otherwise.

With Nico Müller's victory, the Formula Renault 3.5 had 5 different winners in as many rounds. A promising start to the season, before the next meeting at Spa-Francorchamps. In the Belgian Ardennes, sensation Stoffel Vandoorne will be one to particularly watch.
