FR 3.5: Vergne regains victory

After his victory in the second race at Spa-Francorchamps, Jean-Eric Vergne returned to success by winning in Budapest after starting from pole in the first race. Alexander Red (Fortec Motorsports) takes second place after gaining the upper hand on Brendon Hartley. The Gravity-Charouz driver had to give up his third place to Sergio Canamasas (BVM Target) after receiving a penalty for exceeding the track limits.

The New Zealander finally finished eighth between two Frenchmen. Nelson Panciatici (KMP Racing) finished in seventh place while Nathanael Berthon (ISR) crossed the line in ninth position. Arthur Pic had moved up to 12th place, but the Tech 1 Racing driver dropped back to 19th position after receiving a penalty for the same reasons as Brendon Hartley.

Robert Wickens (Carlin), the Championship leader, finished in fifth place behind Adam Carroll (P1 Motorsport), new to the FR 3.5 Series. Daniel Ricciardo (ISR) was undoubtedly keen to prove to his opponents that he deserved his place in F1. But the Australian couldn't even complete the formation lap after blocking his car in the gravel.
