FRECA – Race 1: Mini penalized, Beganovic winner at Imola

Dominant during the opening round at Monza a fortnight ago, Dino Beganovic confirmed his promising start to the season at Imola, by winning the first race of the weekend. The Swede took advantage of the misfortunes of pole sitter Gabriele Mini, who crossed the line in first position but was demoted out of the points after receiving a 10-second penalty.

Thanks to a nice overtake on the other ART Grand Prix driver Mari Boya thanks to the push-to-pass mid-race, Dino Beganovic therefore secured the second success of his season in only three races contested in the championship. The protégé of Ferrari ahead of Boya and his teammate Paul Aron (Prema), at the end of a race cut short by four Safety Cars.

A red flag was even waved on the second lap after an incident involving one of the French, Marseillais Sami Meguetounif (MP Motorsport). According to the official commentator of the championship, Sami was transferred to the medical center of the conscious circuit, without specifying further concerning his state of health.

Excellent operation for Beganovic, who increases his lead in the championship since he now has a 28-point lead over Aron. On the French side, Hadrien David (R-ace GP) is the only one to score a point with a final 10th place.
