The equation was simple. If he wanted to secure the championship title on Saturday with three races remaining, Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix) absolutely had to score four points more than his rival Hadrien David (R-ace GP). He did much better than that by scoring ten points for 5th place while David, hooked on the first lap, finished out of the points.

Qualified 7th, one position behind his direct French adversary, the Swiss seemed poorly prepared to pop the champagne on Saturday evening, but he was able to take advantage of the chaos of the first round, which saw Dino Beganovic (Prema), Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport ) and Mari Boya (VAR), all qualified in front of him, go to the mat. Dropped by David Vidales (Prema) in the first third of the race as the safety car returned, the Helvetian had nothing to gain by fighting and preferred not to give up too much.

8 poles and 8 victories for Saucy

Aged 21, Grégoire Saucy wins his first career coronation and the first title in the history of this championship resulting from the merger of Formula Renault Eurocup and the Regional Formula by Alpine. The ART Grand Prix driver outrageously dominated the series, taking eight poles and eight victories.

The victory of the day went to pole sitter Paul Aron (Prema), who won his first victory in the series after four successful podiums this season. The Estonian did not have an easy race, however, as he had his lead stolen by Mikhael Belov (G4 Racing) on the first lap. But at the restart of the Safety Car, the protégé of Mercedes did what was necessary to take back his property and never let it go. Aron won ahead of Belov and his teammate David Vidales (Prema).

On the French side, Isack Hadjar (R-ace GP) gained three places thanks in particular to a great overtake on Alex Quinn (Arden). He finished 12th. After his collision in the first lap, his teammate Hadrien David managed a nice comeback from 36th to 23rd place, but obviously scored no points. As for Sami Meguetounif (R-ace GP), who is starting in the category, he gained a position and finished his first race in 22nd position.
