French F4 champion at the end of his first full campaign in car in 2021, Esteban Masson shifts gears and climbs to the next level, in FRECA. For his great discovery of the category F3 Regionally, the 17-year-old Franco-Canadian has in fact signed with FA Racing, a structure directly linked to MP Motorsport.

“I am super happy to continue my learning in FRECA, Esteban told us, then at the team simulator in the Netherlands to prepare for pre-season testing. My entourage and I chose to start in F4 France last year because it was the best series to start with, and now the time has come to take the next step. There are only circuits of F1 on the program and an extraordinary level in the series. I have everything I need to progress.”

At the end of last season, Esteban Masson tested with R-ace GP, one of the two French teams on the grid, then with FA Racing, with which he ended up signing up. The chances of seeing him evolve in the Vendée team have long been great, the two parties wanting to work together but for reasons mainly linked to the budget, he was not able to join the reigning champion team Équipes.

With FA Racing, he will inevitably have more difficulty playing directly at the front, but the team continues to progress, with a 15th place in the drivers' championship for Gabriele Bortoleto in 2021. “It is an honor to represent the colors of Fernando Alonso, he added. It’s a team that has experience in the championship and this could be a great step for me with the aim of moving up to the next level.”

No positional objective for Esteban, however. The young man has his head on his shoulders and above all wants to continue to gain experience in qualifying and races, having only competed in nine single-seater meetings until now. “We have not set any ranking targets for the moment, because we do not yet know what the competition will be like, Didier André, Masson's manager and coach, also told us. We will have a first idea of what we are aiming for after pre-season testing (which start in Barcelona between March 23 and 24)”. He will notably team up with Nicolas Baptiste. The identity of the third driver should be revealed next Tuesday March 22, and it should be another Frenchman, Victor Bernier.
