FR2.0-C2: Kevin Jörg for a premiere in Moscow

Kevin Jörg (Josef Kaufmann Racing) takes his first victory in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and becomes the sixth winner in as many races contested this season at the end of Race 2 contested at the Moscow Raceway. The Swiss took the advantage at the start against the pole sitter Nyck de Vries (Koiranen GP) and did not let go of the controls until the finish where he won with only seven tenths of a lead. “I am delighted with this first success! Nyck didn't take the best flight which allowed me to pass. I then tried to widen the gap, I attacked hard and that was enough to resist Nyck and obtain this first victory. I think I showed that we were strong on all circuits. Let's hope this continues! »

Despite this new disappointment for the Dutchman who would have liked to become the first driver of the year with two victories under his belt, the results remain more than satisfactory for the Championship leader since he now has an 18-point lead over Bruno Bonifacio (Prema Powerteam) who could not even participate in qualifying following a mechanical problem. “After a very difficult race yesterday, we bounced back in qualifying”, declares the Koiranen GP driver. “Four pole positions out of six at stake is not bad. The result of the race is a bit disappointing, but I'm quite happy. Kevin deserves his victory, he got the best start among us. I attacked all the way to get closer, but I wasn't close enough to prepare to overtake. »

Alex Albon (KTR) secured his first podium in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 after resisting pressure from Matt Parry (Fortec Motorsports) and Dennis Olsen (Prema Powerteam) who completed the top five ahead of Andrea Pizzitola (Manor MP Motorsport). Aurélien Panis (ART Junior Team), the winner the day before, took eighth place behind Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport).
