Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) took another step towards the Formula title Renault Eurocup by winning the last race of the weekend at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). The Championship leader retained his pole advantage at the start despite the intervention of the safety car following an accident between Charles Milesi (R-ace GP) and Luis Leeds (Josef Kaufmann Racing).
While Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing), winner of Race 2, fell back to fourth behind Max Defourny (R-ace GP) taking advantage of a penalty inflicted on Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing) who fell back to the ninth position. Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) lost his last title hopes when he was forced to pit and retire, presumably due to contact with Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport).
Will Palmer (R-ace GP) placed himself as Sacha Fenestraz's best opponent, but the Briton was unable to find an opening on the leader who further increased his lead before the three-race finale in Barcelona (Spain ). The Franco-Argentinian is 52,5 points ahead of Will Palmer and could well be crowned before the last race of the season.
