FR2.0 – Luca Ghiotto takes his first victory at Spa

Antonio Fuoco (Prema Powerteam) did not take long to benefit from his pole position for the second race of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 at Spa-Francorchamps. His Prema Powerteam teammate took the advantage as soon as the lights went out, but the fight for the lead of the race was quickly interrupted following the violent exit from the track of Gregor Ramsay (Euronova Racing) and Stefan Wackerbauer (Interwetten. com Racing) occurred in Raidillon. If the leader retained the advantage at the restart, Pierre Gasly (Tech 1 Racing) made a good comeback to place himself in third position while Oliver Rowland (Manor MP Motorsport) came to threaten Luca Ghiotto after starting from the third row.

But the event would be interrupted a second time following the accident of Ignacio d'Agosto (KTR), offering a respite to Luca Ghiotto. The Italian was threatened by the winner of the first event, but the Briton made a mistake, thus giving second place to Pierre Gasly while the Prema Powerteam resident would take his first victory in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 after his success At Pau Grand Prix. Bruno Bonifacio (Prema Powerteam) took the last step of the podium. Pole sitter Antonio Fuoco ultimately finished fourth while Jake Dennis (Fortec Motorsports) completed the top five. Esteban Ocon (ART Junior Team) takes the points for seventh place behind Oscar Tunjo (Josef Kaufmann Racing) while William Vermont (Arta Engineering).

On the other hand, Matthieu Vaxivière (Tech 1 Racing) had a bad weekend since he only took 14th place ahead of Alex Baron (ART Junior Team) and now sees Pierre Gasly take the lead of the Championship for two points ahead .
