Max Defourny takes his first victory of the season in Formula Renault Eurocup at the end of Race 1 at Paul-Ricard after which Robert Shwartzman was downgraded for his contact with Sacha Fenestraz.

FR2.0 – Max Defourny winner on the green carpet at Le Castellet

Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) completed Race 1 of Formula Renault Eurocup winner ahead of his teammate Max Defourny, but the result remained provisional. The Russian was under investigation for hooking race leader Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) on the final lap, sending the Drivers' standings leader into a roll. The Franco-Argentinian escaped unscathed.

Robert Shwartzman was finally sanctioned with a 25s penalty, relegating the R-ace GP driver out of the points and leaving victory to Max Defourny. Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing) inherits 2nd place, while Will Palmer (MP Motorsport) achieves the best performance by climbing onto the podium. The Briton takes second place in the Drivers' standings and is 14 points behind Sacha Fenestraz.

Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing) had a difficult race. A collision in the peloton relegated the Frenchman to 15th position.
