Grégoire Saucy wins Race 2

The Swiss Grégoire Saucy transformed his first pole in the category into victory this Sunday by winning Race 2 of the inaugural round of the Formula Regionale by Alpine. The ART Grand Prix driver did not miss his takeoff. He dominated from start to finish to claim his first victory in car and take the lead in the championship.

He finished ahead of Paul Aron (Prema) and Zane Maloney (R-ace GP), with all three men taking their first podium of the year. While he started on the front row, Hadrien David (R-ace GP) finished just off the podium (4th) after falling back to 7th position due to a bad start.

The Habs then managed to recover by overtaking Isack Hadjar (R-ace GP) on track, before taking advantage of the incident between Dino Beganovic (Prema) and Alex Quinn (Arden). While the Briton attacked the Swede from the outside, the Prema driver locked a wheel while braking and took the best rookie in Formula with him Renault in 2020.

At the restart after the intervention of the safety car, Isack Hadjar lost several positions due to a mechanical problem which cost him big points. He finished 12th.

Winner of Race 1 on Saturday, David Vidales (Prema) finished 7th after losing a few positions on the first lap by putting two wheels on the grass while fighting for 3rd place with Zane Maloney. The next round will take place in Barcelona on May 9.
