For the big official premiere of the Regional Formula Europe by Alpine, the new series resulting from the merger of Formula Renault Eurocup and FREC, it was Hadrien David and R-ace GP who were the fastest on the track. The native of Royan, 10th in the Eurocup last year, dominated the two sessions of the first of the two days of testing planned in Imola.
During the morning, the Frenchman (1'38"711) was clearly ahead of the competition, winning with half a second ahead of his pursuers, including his teammate Zane Maloney (+0"472) and the Estonian Paul Aron (Prema/+0 »501).
Hadrien David then did it again in the afternoon by improving his mark (1'38"523) in a much tighter session. As proof, 4th in the session, Isack Hadjar (R-ace GP) is only 43 thousandths behind his compatriot and teammate. The Swiss Grégoire Saucy (ART Grand Prix) is 2nd, and the Barbadian Zane Maloney 3rd. The 32 single-seaters will be back on track this Thursday.
