Race 2 for Alexander Smolyar, podium for Novalak

Starting in pole position thanks to the reverse grid rule, the Russian Alexander Smolyan scored his first victory of the season on Sunday at Silverstone. The ART Grand Prix driver, 3rd in Formula Renault Eurocup last season finally materialized its high top speed demonstrated since the start of the year. It perfectly resisted the insistent attacks of David Beckman (Trident) and Clement Novalak (Carlin), the two men who accompanied him on the podium.

It is therefore a new podium for Clément Novalak, after his 3rd place obtained during the inaugural round in Austria. The Franco-Swiss, who races under a British license, even thought he would take the two points for the best lap in the race, but Logan sargeant (Prema) took them away from him at the finish line. Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) made a good comeback, from 12th to 8th place.

Abandonment of Piastres

Winner of race 1 on Saturday, the New Zealander Liam Lawson. (Hitech) confirmed its renewed performance by gaining three positions to finish 7th, just behind Logan Sargeant and Frédérik Vesti, two Prema drivers. The American Sargeant, 2nd in the championship, takes 7 championship points from the leader Oscar piastri (According to).

For the first time this season, the Australian did not finish in the points. He didn't even finish the race, period. Starting from 9th position, Piastri was 11th at the end of the first lap. Then 12th, two loops later, after being overtaken by Théo Pourchaire. While trying to regain his place, the Australian went wide and found himself in the soft belly (16th). A problem with his DRS finally forced him to retire.
