The Escuela Española de Pilotos adventure, the Mosler n°13 returns to the track!

We remember the impressive images of the Mosler of Kostas Kanaroglou and Olivier Campos, on fire on the blue stripes at the edge of the Paul Ricard track, and no one thought they would see the car in the paddocks again anytime soon. After Castellet, the Escuela Española de Pilotos team set itself a real challenge: to be back on track from the Dijon event! Looking at the state of the Mosler MT900 which had burned for many minutes, we could doubt it, and yet it was running well this Friday on the Dijon circuit.

After the Paul Ricard meeting, the car was back in the workshops in Madrid on June 06, it was going to leave on June 26... In less than three weeks, the mechanics from Escuela Española de Pilotos dismantled the car until least bolt. First operation, complete cleaning before starting to take stock of the damage. The engine block withstood the fire without problem, only the peripherals need to be changed. The monohull is also able to return to service. The tubular elements are x-rayed to detect possible cracks and weaknesses. For the rest, you must recommend new parts, but above all try to repair those that can be repaired, because this operation is done with a limited budget. The deadlines are extremely short, but everyone is involved in this real technical and, above all, human challenge! The mechanics worked days, nights and weekends to get the car ready. They even finished reassembly during the night from Thursday to Friday in the Dijon stand, with the last parts received on site. In the end, the Mosler managed to take part in the first free practice session on Friday. The hours spent on the car cannot even be counted, and around 60% of the parts are new. The others were taken over or repaired, some were rebuilt directly in the Escuela Española de Pilotos workshops, and some bodywork elements were even borrowed from other Moslers, because they were difficult to obtain on such a short notice. For its first run since reassembly, the No. 13 will experience engine trouble with a crankshaft pulley problem. The mechanics are not finished yet, the engine and gearbox must be removed! Solidarity is one of the values in the V de V Endurance Series, and the Spanish team will receive help from the team that runs Eric Van de Vyver?s Mosler. The faulty part will be able to be replaced so that the Mosler d?Escuela Española de Pilotos can take part in the qualifications. It remains to achieve the best time and aim for a good class in the final ranking of this Dijon event.
