Young Anthony Michiel stands out in the V de V Single-Seater Challenge

Some will say that he is already 17, others that he is only 17! Only talent counts in motorsport, and at this age, Anthony Michiel therefore chose to skip the karting stage to sit directly in the seat of a Formula Renault 2.0.

Young Anthony Michiel stands out in the V de V Single-Seater Challenge

The most surprising thing remains that this adventure only began a few months ago, and that Anthony immediately found his feet behind the wheel of the car of the Lamo Racing Car team.

First runs in the spring, first race in the Coupe de France des Circuits at the end of April in Pau-Arnos, and first podium with a third place behind Julien Abelli and Sylvain Milési. He will do it again a few weeks later in Albi, with good qualifications and a new podium (3rd), followed by a 4th place in the second round. Barely arriving on the circuits, and without any experience in motorsport, he is already fighting with the leaders of the category: Hugo Blanchot, Sébastien Banchereau, Sylvain Milési; drivers that we are also used to seeing evolve within the V de V Endurance Series.
At Castellet, Anthony Michiel entered the V de V Single-seater Challenge for the first time with Lamo Racing Car, and many were waiting for the first times of the No. 31 single-seater. 18th place overall (8th place cat. C) after qualifying, it took Anthony time to understand the technical track of Paul Ricard at the wheel of his Formula Renault ; he will also achieve better lap times during the races. During the three rounds of the weekend, he also had to compete in a field of 26 cars, whereas in the Coupe de France there are around ten single-seaters on the starting grid.
In this category C (which represents 13 cars out of the 26 at the start), he placed sixth in races 1 and 2, notably with a great second round in which he demonstrated his driving skills by holding 4th for many laps. place despite a broken wing. In the last race of the weekend, he made a magnificent start and overtook seven drivers during the first lap, before unfortunately being hit by another competitor. It?s the abandonment for n°31. Back in the paddocks, and once the disappointment has passed, it is above all the feeling of having still learned a lot, during this Castellet event, which dominates. Supervised by his family and the Lamo Racing Car team, the young driver is also building his mind in his brand new career as a driver.
Motivation remains high, and Anthony Michiel is already looking towards the next round of the V de V Monoplace Challenge which will take place at the end of June in Dijon.
