Barcelona F3 weekend at a glance

The man of the weekend: Dennis Hauger (Prema)

The 4 Italian F2019 champion was the strong man of the weekend. Dominant from free practice, the driver supported by Red Bull took the first pole of the season. Quiet winner of the Sunday race, the one which offers the most points, Hauger could even already have two victories if his attack on the leader Matteo Naninni in the last lap of Race 2 had ended in anything other than a crash (see weekend). Regardless, the Norwegian is already at the top of the standings with 34 points, and has two points more than his teammate Olli Caldwell.

The disappointment of the weekend: Roman Stanek (Hitech Grand Prix)

Repeating in the category, the Czech had proclaimed himself a candidate for the final podium before the start of the season. But what he showed during this first Barcelona round does not really seem to be in line with his objectives. Stanek only scored one point thanks to his 10th place in Race 3, but he stayed out of the points on Saturday (16th and 12th). Worse, he was even beaten by his two rookie teammates Ayumu Iwasa (4 pts) and Jak Crawford (2 pts).

Fact of the weekend: The double collision in Race 2

It was an incredible end to race 2 that we witnessed on Saturday. In the fight for first place, David Schumacher (Trident) and Enzo Fittipaldi (Charouz) crashed out at the first corner, leaving Matteo Nannini (HWA Racelab) and Dennis Hauger (Prema) in the lead. The problem ? This is because these two eliminated each other in the same place in the last lap, offering victory to Olli Caldwell (Prema) on a plateau and a first podium in F3 to Victor Martins (MP Motorsport).

The number :

615

This is the number of days without official competition for Juan Manuel Correa between his serious accident at Spa-Francorchamps on August 31, 2019 in F2, and his return to FIA F3 last weekend. The American managed to score a point despite still having pain in his legs. “ There's still a lot to improve on, but god it's good to be back." he wrote on his social networks.

The French weekend:

Clement Novalak: 2e in C1, 4e in C4, 6e and C3

Victor Martins: 9e in C1, 2e in C2, 5e and C3

Reshad of Gerus: 20e in C1, 13e in C2, 23e and C3

Pierre-Louis Chovet: 24e in C1, 14e in C2, 24e and C3

The statement of the weekend:

Dennis Hauger: “Winner winner, chicken dinner”
