Mégane – Albert Costa snatches the title from Schothorst

Albert Costa saw his lead in the Championship disappear yesterday when he retired at the start of Race 1, in Barcelona, while he started from the front row. As if that were not enough, his rival for the title Bas Schothorst managed to win the event, to start the final race of the season with nine points ahead of his Spanish rival. The Oregon driver nevertheless kept hope alive today by starting from pole in Race 2 while the Dutchman was content with eighth place on the starting grid.

Albert Costa was able this time to easily escape from his first place at the start of Race 2 to lead ahead of his teammates Fabien Thuner and Kevin Gilardoni. The Swiss nevertheless retired on the third lap, offering a place to Bas Schothorst, who was doing his best to get back into the peloton. The Dutchman found himself in the tailpipes of Niccolo Nalio (Oregon Team) for fourth place while Kelvin Snoeks (TDS Racing) completed the provisional podium. The Italian finally managed to take third place from the Dutchman after the refueling stops. If Bas Schothorst managed to overcome his compatriot, he could only fail at the foot of the podium and lose four points behind the winner Albert Costa who won the title for his first season in the discipline. Kevin Gilardoni and Niccolo Nalio complete the podium, for a successful weekend for the Oregon Team which signs the hat-trick.
