Mégane – Bortolotti finds success at Spa

For the first time this season, Mirko Bortolotti missed pole position. His teammate Kevin Gilardoni was the fastest, ahead of Kelvin Snoeks (Oregon Team), Erik Janis, Mirko Bortolotti and Mike Verschuur, according to the second best qualifying times. Kevin Gilardoni retained his first place at the start. Behind, Mirko Bortolotti gained two positions at the expense of Kelvin Snoeks and Erik Janis. Mike Verschuur retained his fifth place. Braking for the Chicane, Mirko Bortolotti took the lead of the race.

The first five broke away at the start of the race. Mike Verschuur put Erik Janis under pressure. The peloton was animated by battles involving Steven Palette (Team Lompech Sport), Max Braams (Las Moras by Equipe Verschuur) and Vladimir Lunkin (Oregon Team). The refueling began at the end of the sixth lap with Jean-Charles Miginiac (Team Lompech Sport). Despite varying strategies, positions did not change with pit stops. But the podium took shape at the end of the race. Kelvin Snoeks suffered a puncture on the twelfth lap. Same problem for Kevin Gilardoni, three loops further.

Under the checkered flag, Mirko Bortolotti won ahead of Erik Janis, subsequently downgraded for technical non-compliance (less than three liters of gasoline in the tank), and Mike Verschuur. Max Braams (Las Moras by Equipe Verschuur) and Vladimir Lunkin (Oregon Team) were ahead of Jeroen Schothorst (Mc Gregor by Equipe Verschuur), again winner in the Gentlemen Trophy. Kelvin Snoeks ranked sixth, accompanied by Kevin Gilardoni, Marguerite Laffite (Oregon Team), Jean-Charles Miginiac and Enrico Bettera in the points.
