Mégane – Fabien Thuner takes victory

Albert Costa managed to maintain his pole advantage ahead of teammates Kevin Gilardoni and Niccolo Nalio at the start, but the Oregon Team drivers fell back in the standings after their early pit stop following the intervention of the safety car. If Tom Coronel and Jeroen Schothorst (TDS Racing) chose to stay on the track, this strategy did not pay off since the TDS drivers were quickly taken over by Fabien Thuner and Stefano Comini while Tom Coronel retired with a mechanical problem.

The Swiss was able to maintain the advantage until the finish to sign his first victory in the discipline. “I’ve been waiting for this victory for a long time, but I never gave up”, assures the winner. “I was in the last at the start. When I realized that the safety car was going to come out, I immediately told my team that I was going to refuel. Then we had to resist Stefano and then preserve fuel. It?s great to be the first to win in the sedan here. » Kevin Gilardoni had to complete the podium after recovering two positions following the collision between Albert Costa and Bas Schothorst (TDS Racing). But the Italian was caught by his compatriot Niccolo Nalio two laps from the finish, the latter thus taking third place. The Championship leader falls behind his Spanish rival, but the Dutchman still maintains a lead of 46 points.
