Mégane – Mike Verschuur takes victory at Spa

Mirko Bortolotti (Oregon Team) started the day by taking a third pole position this season. The leader of the Eurocup Mégane Trophy beat his teammate Kevin Gilardoni (Oregon Team) by three hundredths. Kelvin Snoeks, Erik Janis and Mike Verschuur started behind the leaders. Max Braams (Las Moras by Equipe Verschuur) spun during the grid entry. When the lights went out, Toni Forné (Gravity Charouz) stalled. Up front, Mirko Bortolotti held off Kevin Gilardoni at the foot of Raidillon. Kelvin Snoeks took advantage of the situation to insert himself between his two teammates. In the second round, Vladimir Lunkin (Oregon Team) made a mistake at the top of Raidillon. The gap between the leaders remained small. Erik Janis and Mike Verschuur managed to stay in contact. The battles raged in the peloton with an intense fight between Jeroen Schothorst (Mc Gregor by Equipe Verschuur) and Enrico Bettera (Oregon Team).

Victory would be decided in the pits. Jean-Charles Miginiac (Team Lompech Sport) was the first to stop for refueling at the end of the sixth lap. Kevin Gilardoni stopped on the ninth lap, Erik Janis and Kelvin Snoeks on the tenth, Mirko Bortolotti and Mike Verschuur on the eleventh. Making a lightning save, Mike Verschuur emerged in front of all his opponents. The Dutchman regained the lead of the race after the stop of Marguerite Laffite (Oregon Team). Victim of a puncture, Kevin Gilardoni?s hopes were dashed. Under the checkered flag, Mike Verschuur won ahead of Kelvin Snoeks, Erik Janis, Mirko Bortolotti, Steven Palette, Max Braams and Jeroen Schothorst, winner in the Gentlemen Trophy. Enrico Beretta, Oliver Freymuth (AKF Motorsport) and Jakub Knoll (Gravity Charouz) also scored points.
