New: Challenger Formula 2.0

Due to the difficult economic context, too few Formula teams Renault 2.0 West European Cup purchased New Formula Renault 2.0 for the championship to be maintained in this form.

In order to continue to offer a French Formula Renault 2.0 Championship, competitors will have the opportunity to drive with the previous version of the car, the FR 2.0 with the Tatuus chassis and equipped with the 2007 aerodynamic kit (version 2007 to 2009). The races in the discipline will take place as part of the FFSA Super Series.

Now called Challenger Formula 2.0, the discipline will allow the designation of a French Formula Renault 2.0 champion. Only drivers under the age of 25 will be eligible for this award, in order to succeed Jules Bianchi, Jean-Eric Vergne and Nathanaël Berthon.

Depending on the final composition of the field, a “gentleman driver” classification will also be put in place, for drivers over 25 years old.

It will be possible to see New Formula Renault 2.0 in Eurocup FR 2.0 but it is the old version of the single-seater which will therefore run as part of the FFSA Super Series, in Challenger Formula 2.0.
