German motorsport is not experiencing its best times. One day after the announcement of the takeover of the DTM by the ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club), the German motorsport federation has confirmed the news that everyone feared: there will be no F4 Germany championship in 2023!

As a reminder, the German championship, one of the references in the category in recent years, had lost its value and especially seen some of its teams rely more on F4 Italy like R-ace GP in 2022. To all this, we must add financial difficulties which got the better of the series.

With an increasingly weak field and above all an uncertain future, the ADAC, which had still not presented a 2023 calendar unlike the competitors, finally decided not to restart the machine for an additional season.

ADAC is still keen on F4

If F4 Germany will not be on the program of the sporting calendar across the Rhine, the ADAC has nevertheless announced that it wants to continue its involvement in Formula 4. It has in fact formalized an agreement with the FFSA with the commitment of an ADAC Formula Junior Team in 2023.

Thus, F4 France will see two young drivers who are members of the ADAC Formula Junior Team prove themselves in the French championship. “ Germany has many talented athletes in the field of motorsport. However, in recent years, many of them have not been able to move up the promotion ladder due to the very high costs involved., deplores Gerd Ennser, president of ADAC Sport.

This is why we are taking a new direction: with the new ADAC Formula Junior Team, we are creating a simple path to promotion formulas for young drivers. The first stage, the central pillar of the FFSA Formula 4 Academy, guarantees equal opportunities and cost transparency for two young German talents. For the future, we strive to develop cooperation with the FFSA."

Interested drivers, born between 2006 and 2008, have until January 13, 2023 to apply for the two places in the ADAC Formula Junior Team. The German federation specifies that the latter cannot have more than one year of experience in promotional formulas. The participation fee amounts to 99 euros, plus 000 insurance. This covers the entire 9 rounds of the 000 F7 France calendar in addition to simulator sessions, three days of pre-season testing but also a set of Pirelli tires for each day as well as two additional days of running organized by the FFSA.
